Jane Nordstrom Training offers a selection of high quality horses, many of which have “A” show records and all of which are show ready and show quality.  Some of our horses are privately owned and are used judiciously with permission of their time-stressed owners.

This is a win-win situation:  the horses are kept in supervised work while students have higher quality horses to ride in lessons.

Woody: aka “My Silver Lining”
Woody is well-known and much beloved in the Northern Virginia horse community.  He has taken numerous riders through the A shows, earning too many championships to name in the 2’6” & 3’ divisions.  He is a skilled schoolmaster who can safely teach a beginner to walk, trot, canter and jump; or help a more advanced rider hone their skills.

As recently as last fall, he earned blue ribbons and tri-colors at local shows in the children’s hunter division.  Woody has never failed to bring home ribbons, no matter what level he shows at.

Woody is a 15.3 hand, grey Appendix QH gelding who will never turn down a treat, and who long ago decided life was much easier if he went with the flow.  A loving, easy horse to ride and work around.

Jewel, aka “Jersey Girl”
This appendix QH mare lives up to her name.  We describe her as a “seeing eye horse for the distance challenged” as she finds the right spot to jump every time.  Safe, sane and quiet, she is suitable for both children and adults.

Jewel is comfortable and easy to ride, and has been a consistent star in the pleasure and 2’6” hunter divisions as well as a wonderful equitation horse.

Jewel is also 15.3 h.  She’s a big-bodied  chestnut roan with a blaze and one white sock.  She’s a pretty mover with a cute jump and is a barn favorite ride.
King
Talented, sweet and handsome, King couples a patient, easy-going nature with athletic ability.  At 16’3, he’s a big boy, but is much beloved because of his delightful personality.  King has a big jump, but is wonderful in the equitation ring and has won in the hunters as well.
Shu-shu, aka “Galeta”
This wonderful 11 year old GRH registered mare is sweet, athletic and talented.  She has been shown by an 11 year old girl to success in the 3’ jumpers but has the ability to go much higher.

With a more experienced rider, Shu-shu can do the bigger jumps with ease.  She headed for the “A” show ring as she has a text-book jump and beautiful movement coupled with a workmanlike attitude.  Shu-shu won a class earlier this year at Lexingon (Stonewall I) in the 1M jumpers and took home a 5th in the 1.05M as well.
Some horses are available for half-lease or lease (on premises lease only).
